CRYSTAL GLASSWARE MANUFACTURERS

Company: Excellent Operation, 山西宜欧家具用品有限公司

We were sent to Qixian where our factories are located and visited hand-making, semi-automatic, automatic, post-process glassware factories, warehouses, logistics companies, and domestic selling offices.

As is known to all, the raw materials of glassware are sand, to be precise, Silica. It seems easy to transfer Silica into glass FORM.

However, the process of making red wine glassware is much more complex.

THE PROCESS OF GLASSWARE

  • At first, workers put selected raw materials into a fusing kiln, that is heated to over 1,400 degrees centigrade.
  • Then, the first batch of workers removes moderate raw liquid material from the fusing kiln with a long pipe.
  • They put it in a fixed mold or unfixed mold and blow the liquid material until the material begins to take shape.
  • The second batch of workers adds stems to the blown shapes.
  • The third batch of workers adds pedestals to the stems.
  • Next, cut the top part of the glass shape after annealing. Polish and chamfer the glass edge.

It is not enough at this point, as washers need to wash the glass several times and dry them. Following that, the rims of all glassware require further polishing on the fire again.

Inspection Process

The final but the most important aspect of the process and product lies in its inspection.

Inspectors need to find and qualify any defective line products, applying ratings by signifying items as either first-rate quality and second-best products.

Defective Items

All the defective goods will be sent to the fusing kiln again.

Qualified products are then sent to post-processing factories or be packed for shipping or storage. That is the whole process of manual production.

CRYSTAL GLASSWARE: Automatic vs Semi-Automatic

Semi-automatic production and automatic production look easier and much more effective than manual production.

But machine-made glassware is usually heavier and can't avoid revealing ''joint lines'' a ponderous process.

Machine vs Handmade

Therefore, machine-made product items can't replace hand-made for the finish and holistic qualities. Top-class quality glassware must be hand-made, requiring workers to have rich experience and high-level skills.

Even the smallest mistake during the manual production process would create a poor or uneven distribution of glass thickness, even bubbles within the glass.

During production, hundreds of workers are engaged in the production of glassware around the scorching heat of the ovens.

The production lines run 24 hours a day and never stop with three batch workers changing shifts.

The scene was so collaborative that I felt the greatness of laborers and these special skills.

Moreover, each product was treated carefully because it represented the sweat and painstaking effort of laborers.
